This was an incredibly special shoot for me. (As well as his parents too, i’m sure!) I first met James Dad, Joe, when I was about 15. So, after a decade+ of friendship, we both just so happen to be expecting January babies at the same time! Our rainbow baby, Harlyn, arrived on Tuesday Jan 7th, and James soon followed and made his appearance on that friday.
We booked our time slot at Locust + Vine studio, where we met with minimalistic decorations and an adorable cake his mom brought. Just like any toddler, the Mickey Mouse theme song kept him happy as he wobbled around the studio.
This family is near and dear to my heart, and we all can’t wait to watch these crazy kids grow up together. Happy birthday, James!
In Feb 2020, at just 6 weeks postpartum, I met Alex and Aly at French park. We captured crispy sunset photos to celebrate their engagement and upcoming wedding (which would be rescheduled – COVID was NOT on our radar just yet….) Fast forward to April 2021: Here I am knocking on their door to capture their first sweet moments as a family of 3.
I unlaced my boots, walked by the couch where tiny baby Ezra was chillin, and washed my hands – SUPER excited to see this sweet baby up close! I soon learned, this was THE most alert newborn I have ever met! He was bright eyed and take on the day. He loves his paci and really close snuggles with his parents, so it took a minute for us to get this little rager to relax and snooze. But, once we did, we were able to capture beautiful moments of his momma rocking him back and forth, his dad holding him close, and his new brother Marley checkin’ out the commotion.
Forever in love with this family – and I am so excited to see this boy grow into a little man right before our eyes.
The last time Sarah and Nicholas got professional photos together was at their wedding YEARS ago. We decided the perfect spot for these updated couples pics would be Rentschler Forest in Hamilton, Ohio. The beautifully lined bike trails, the towering pine trees, what’s not to love about this place?! These two jumped right in and they danced, spun each other around, cuddled in close to keep warm, and showed me just how perfect of a couple they are. I had an insane amount of fun with these two, and sessions like these remind me why I love capturing love stories so much – even when it’s freezing cold outside.
When I started my session with these two, I asked if they would be cool with getting down in the creek, to which Charlee replied: “Sure. I’ll do anything for a picture.” And right then and there, I knew they were my kind of people! They trusted my creative flow, did ALL my prompts and had PLENTY of laughs together. Not to mention, the weather was GORGEOUS – Mother Nature was certainly on our side for this one. Hueston Woods is my go-to for engagement pics – I couldn’t recommend this spot enough!
When Alison mentioned that Nick wanted to take pictures with his vintage Ford – I was screeching with excitement. I have been wanting to do a shoot with a super cool car like his for like, well, EVER. And, to say the least: they turned out amazing. But, i’m not surprised. Just look at these two. We shot these night at sunset at Keehner Park in West Chester, Ohio.
